Jazz_PhotoI recently completed my undergraduate degree in psychology from Missouri State University this past fall. I am a member of Psi Chi and I have been involved with an array of different organizations while on campus. I was a research assistant in the Psychology Department, a Resident Assistant in University Housing and an active member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority as an appointed official. I plan to attend the University of Miami this upcoming fall. I will be working towards an M.S.Ed with a concentration in Research, Measurement, and Evaluation. After the completion of my master’s, I hope to be accepted into a Ph.D. in I/O Psychology program in order to continue working in academia.  My research interests are related to psychometrics and the validation of test and assessments that are used to identify individual traits and characteristics.

A research topic I am interested in pursuing during the Institute would be the development and/or validation of tests and assessments that are used in the workplace. I would like to have the opportunity to learn more about how personal or cognitive traits have an effect on job outcome and performance.

Anthony MatosMy name is Anthony L. Matos Melo. I was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Puerto Rico. Currently, I am a senior majoring in Psychology at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where I am involved in two research labs at the University’s Social Sciences Faculty. One of this labs is an I/O Psychology research project, where research on stress and Alzheimer’s disease, counterproductive work behavior, and inequality in the workplace is being conducted. My goal is to earn a Ph.D. in Industrial Organizational Psychology and become a consultant in order to help organizations reach their full potential of becoming psychological healthy places. My research interests include job satisfaction, inequality in the workplace, emotions, and counterproductive work behavior. I am also interested in nonverbal communication in the workplace.

Research Interest for the Organizational Summer Science Institute (OSSI):

My main research interests surrounds counterproductive work behavior. I am specifically attracted to understanding the role played by aspects like the perception of injustice, lack of opportunities, and mistreatment to the employee on the emergence of counterproductive work behavior, as well as the impact that it has on the organization in the short and long term.
