Shamala Matthews
Shamala Matthews is a junior at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is double majoring in Business Management with a focus on Talent Management and Psychology. She has most recently worked as a Project Manager at American Express leading digital development teams in developing and maintaining interactive web systems. She currently volunteers as a program coordinator for Against All Odds Empowerment implementing programs that serve teenage mothers and at risks girls with low socioeconomic statuses. She looks forward to pursuing graduate and post graduate work in the field of I/O psychology with a keen focus on maximizing workforce productivity, engagement, satisfaction, and organizational design.

Ruth Topete
Ruth Topete is a rising senior majoring in Psychology and with a minor in business management at San Diego State University. Her research interests are diversity in the workplace, leadership and person job fit. She is currently working in a lab conducting research on organizational and leadership effectiveness. Ruth is a member of Psi Chi National Honor Society and the psychology club on her campus. Ruth aspires to go to onto graduate school and pursue a career working for the government.
Research Topic I am Interested In
Just recently I learned about inclusiveness and diversity in organizations and I have been looking more into it and I feel it blends my interests together.
I am primarily interested in diversity in organizations and person job fit.
I am also intrigued by individual differences specifically their leadership styles and their relationships with others such as their manager’s, coworkers and the organization.
Kiara Sanchez
Kiara is a senior at Rice University majoring in Psychology and Sociology with a minor in Poverty, Justice & Human Capabilities. She has been in engaged in several research projects and is currently a research assistant in an Industrial Organizational Psychology lab at Rice. Her research interests include diversity and discrimination in the workplace and in schools, as well as globalization. Her goals include pursuing a PhD in Industrial Organizational or Social Psychology in order to become a researcher and professor. Through her research and teaching, she hopes to serve underrepresented populations and inspire future scholars to do the same.
Research Topic:
I am interested in organizational diversity and systemic discrimination, specifically in the workplace and in schools. I am most interested in ethnic discrimination. I would like to pursue a topic that I can develop into an honors thesis next year.
